8th September 2017 Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: 5/20 Surf / Sea State: flatish Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy with showers:( Max Speed: 23.22 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 11.33 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Friday 8th September – windsurfing ** Levington – cloudy with showers:( 23.22kt. max, 20.34kt. ave., 6.01kt. hr., 11.71kt. mile, 20.80 km., 12.59kt. alpha. I wasn’t keen on going today as rain was forecast but it was only light showers so decided to give it a try. I checked out The Fludgers but the wind was slightly off and I didn’t fancy going out on the bumpy sea all by myself so I headed to Levington again. It was a good tide coming in the whole session and with onshore winds gusting to 20knots so took a chance with 8.5 on the 310. I thought I was going to be well over but soon realised once on the water that it was not windy at all with only the odd gust, perhaps only planning 25% of the time:( The wind was changing direction too, sometimes you could head towards the docks then it was reaching up river towards Ipswich! Despite the cloud I only had a couple of light showers. I still stuck it out for over two hours but gave up at high water when it dropped off even further! Wind all of the place for the next week with some really strong winds forecast but I am not holding my breath that I will get a good sail???? PS - might be the last outing for the shortie!
